The Bridges Academy has a tradition in the performing arts.  We believe that participating in the music and drama programs help our students to grow in confidence and learn to collaborate with their fellow students.

MUSIC & DRAMA

MUSIC PROGRAM

All students from K-8 are members of the Lower and Middle School chorus and many students take advantage of our Bridge and Middle School bands.  With two full time certified music teachers, Bridges offers an enriched program in music theory, composition, vocals and instrument training. Bridges hosts a winter and spring concert.  Many of our students also participate in NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) which is a statewide program for individual students to perform in front of a judge and be scored on their performance.  Many of our students score in the top tier and qualify for the Suffolk County Chorus and Band.  Scores in NYSSMA can also be used when applying to colleges and universities to verify a student’s strength in music.

DRAMA

Each year, The Bridges Academy students perform two plays per year. Junior Drama Club is for K-3rd Grade students, and Drama Club is for 4-8th Grade students. Our students are given the opportunity to sing, act, dance and do back stage crew.  Plays have included; Fiddler on the Roof, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Annie, Wizard of Oz, 101 Dalmations, and Aladdin.  There are many other opportunities throughout the year for performances for all grades including our annual Chinese New Year’s celebration, Thanksgiving celebration, Wax Museum presentations, and more.
